It’s the story of Prometheus, the lamp holding the flame of innovation and spreading the light of harmony.
Inspiration, between nature and myths
As always, nature inspires us and, with its small and great phenomena, guides our research and actions. This time the idea came from tree trunks that, if struck by lightning, burn only inside.
And the idea of the name Prometheus comes from the daring titan who challenged Zeus to give fire to humanity (we’ll tell you more).
Design with a soul
Prometheus comes from environmental responsibility and unleashes the beauty of imperfections, of those marks telling about life challenges. Each lamp is a unique piece of techno-craftsmanship, made with eco-friendly materials and advanced LED technologies, able to reduce the environmental impact and increase the quality and durability of the product.
The first series was made using pruned olive wood and has unique and unrepeatable characteristics; for future productions, we will work on other kinds of wood, to create a new series with the same shape and technical specifications but with new peculiar shades and details.
The birth of Prometheus.
The design concept for Prometheus emerged from the research by Riccardo Giorgetti, a talented young designer from the Marche region. Riccardo’s internship at Kriladesign brought a unique opportunity for collaboration, fostering a shared vision guiding to the lamp's conception, development, and production.
Our journey begins with a single wooden log. Through a turning process, we extract the hollow cylindrical shape and the base housing the electronic components. This cylindrical form is the closest geometric representation of the original trunk, and the light source cut reflects the typical wood curves and irregularities. The tilt too comes from the purpose to add a touch of naturalness to the lamp. After all, no tree grows perfectly vertical!
This lighting and diffusion solution was designed to maximize the aesthetics and effects on the wood, alongside functionality and safety. We've incorporated our patented LED lamp with a special heat dissipation system, that extends the lifespan of the GU10 bulb.

Curiosity: where does the name come from? what inspired us?
Prometheus, meaning "he who thinks before," is a figure from Greek mythology. He was a Titan, one of the oldest gods, Zeus's cousin and a great friend of humankind (created by him upon Zeus's behest).
With his ingenious mind and compassionate heart, Prometheus was deeply touched by the plight of humans on Earth, still primitive creatures without fire. So he decided to defy the supreme Zeus's prohibition and give them the fire, lighting up their darkness. What did he do? He audaciously stole a spark from the Sun's chariot on Mount Olympus and brought it to Earth as essential gift for survival and progress; fire to illuminate the darkness as well as fire to warm, cook and process metals.
Zeus's wrath was terrible: Prometheus was chained to a rock in the Caucasus, with an eagle devouring every day his liver, which regenerated at night in a cycle of eternal pain. Despite the unspeakable suffering, Prometheus never bowed to Zeus's will, and his stoic sacrifice made him a symbol of those who defy oppression for the good of humanity and the pursuit of knowledge.
That Promethean flame is reborn in our lamp, to let our spirit burn and shine, moving it to explore new paths and to evolve towards a better future, despite darkness and adversity.
