This week there’s a notable topic asking for attention, a topic we particularly care for  and directly involving us. "M’illumino di meno" (tr: I use less light) -   www.rai.it/milluminodimeno - is the the initiative promoted by Caterpillar and Rai Radio 2, which for twenty years has been encouraging citizens, businesses and institutions to reduce energy consumption and adopt more responsible behaviors. This theme extends beyond February 16th, the official date of the National Day of Energy Conservation and Sustainable Lifestyles and will stay in the spotlight all week long through media coverage, information campaigns, events, and promotional actions.

We often underestimate how simple daily actions and precautions—such as turning off unnecessary lights—can make a difference and, in the long run, bring benefits not only to our lives but also to the planet.
Beside adopting good practices, we can also choose to equip our spaces with lighting that is already “smart”, designed to minimize environmental impact.

Kriladesign has chosen LED lighting as a practical and tangible response to the sustainability challenge and has developed proprietary patents to offer efficient lighting solutions.
Our patented technologies maximize light output while minimizing energy consumption; furthermore, our products are designed to seamlessly integrate with architecture and interior design, combining eco-functionality with aesthetics and style.1 Gennaio

Why LED technology is made for a greener future?

  • Reduced energy consumption. LED lamps use up to 80% less energy compared to traditional incandescent bulbs. This brings lower demand on the power grid and a positive impact the environment (and, of course, making electricity bills lighter!).
  • Longer lifespan. An LED bulb can last up to 50,000 hours, significantly longer than traditional lamps. Fewer replacements mean less waste and lower industrial production, thereby reducing the ecological footprint.
  • Minimal environmental impact. LEDs don’t contain mercury or other toxic substances, unlike fluorescent lamps. They also produce lower CO₂ emissions and generate less heat.
  • Light quality and visual comfort. LED technology offers a variety of color temperatures, ensuring customized lighting for every environment. It eliminates flickering and reduces eye strain, improving daily well-being.
  • Customization and sustainable design. Beyond energy efficiency, Kriladesign LEDsoffer a tailored lighting experience. Thanks to high-quality materials and innovative designs, our solutions do more than just illuminate—they furnish spaces and create unique atmospheres while minimizing environmental impact and enhancing comfort.

Let’s follow simple steps for more sustainable lighting. 1060849

In addition to choosing LED lighting, here are some tips to optimize energy consumption:

  • Make the most of natural light during the day to reduce the need for artificial lighting.
  • Use motion sensors and dimmers to adjust brightness based on actual needs.
  • Consider rechargeable battery-powered lamps, a smart alternative for both indoor and outdoor use.
  • Avoid leaving lights on unnecessarily and turn them off when leaving a room.
  • Invest in high-quality products that ensure efficient and long-lasting illumination.

Taking part in the initiative “M’illumino di meno” means making aware and careful choices every day. At Kriladesign, we are committed to turning these values into reality through the design and creation of our products, integrating sustainability and upcycling in both production and material selection (PMMA, wood, metal, stone, fabric). We do believe lighting can enhance quality of life and reduce environmental impact—without compromising on style and design.

Until next time!
